Your Random Weekend Memo
By Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY
...That's it for now. Remember, American Idol Season 11 is less than two weeks away. But I have a feeling that plenty of exciting news will break before then. Have a great weekend!
Brian probably anticipating all things Haley...I think he's a fan.
Also, in his article he posts some vintage music videos. How about this collaboration...Tom Jones with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in 1969:
LOL...it was good!

I think the single will be out before the new season. It just makes sense. They'll want to capitalize on the buzz the show generates, but if they release it too close to the start of the season too many people writing about Idol won't be aware of it. There is a good chance they have already tipped Brian and other professionals to expect an electronic press kit containing the single.

The first big name concert I ever attended was Crosby, Stills and Nash, December 1969 at the Masonic Auditorium in Detroit. The played some songs from their first album then brought Young onstage, who had recently joined the band. They did an acoustic set, then plugged in and did stuff from Déjà Vu. Also Stills introduced "a friend" Joni Mitchell on at some point and she sang a song or two. A very relaxed and memorable concert.
Edit: Ha, on youtube (acoustic version):

Summer of 1969 and my high school friend would pick me up in his mother's Ford Mustang convertible as we drove all over chasing girls and listening to Top 40 hits like Marrakesh Express, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and the rest of the great songs off that first album...Long Time Gone, Guinnevere, Wooden Ships...
...and then off to college to avoid the Vietnam draft. A lot of politically activated music created during this time period...CSN was one of many, but probably one of the most distinctive sounding and Hall of Fame worthy.
Pretty much dated myself now...Long Time Gone
