My cousin is a jazz pianist in Chicago, who has his own jazz combo. My husband and I used to go see him play around town. He has his own recording studio, and has played on Broadway in The Wiz, toured with James Taylor and played backup for Jennifer Hudson. He actually won a contest when he was 13 for writing his own symphony, and the Chicago Symphony orchestra played it as part of the prize.

And good for your cousin! Does he have anything on Youtube that I could listen to?

MAE a bit off topic, but I didn't realize NO Jazz was too different from any other type. I didn't even realize there was more than one type, haha! I guess when I think about it, certain songs have a cleaner more...proper sound? Some sounds dirtier. I guess you learn something new every day. I'd love (probably off topic) to learn more about the different genres of Jazz.

NUG, New Orleans may not be the actual "birthplace" of jazz, but it is where the style of Dixieland, one of the earliest forms of jazz, seems to have originated. As that spread, a variety of different styles emanated -- and, yes, there are a number of them.

I'll pretend the "birthplace" of Jazz was in Brian Logan's Jazz Band Music Room at Wheeling High School where Haley became a born-again christening Jazz Crusader.

Well, yes, you can pretend that. But Brian Logan (and blessed be Brian Logan for recognizing that jazz element in Haley and his nurturing and/or just hugely good sense to bring it out!) would probably give credit to what came before him.

you can ear some of differents Jazz styles and can enjoied what she
can do singing don't matter what genre.

Congratulations on getting front row seats to the Chicago theater show! How exciting! I'm going too. With Himm, Buzz and Penny. We're sitting in the Loge, which is above the main floor, but still close to the stage. The reviews say they are excellent seats, and I think better for overall sound quality for filming. (with our spy cameras)
We should meet up before the show. It's always fun to meet other big Haley fans! or.... well find you in the front row! hehe
